Stuart Broad, the English pace bowler has admitted that he suffered from nightmares after being hit on the face by a bouncer from Varun Aaron, during the Test match at Old Trafford during India’s visit to England last year. Broad then suffered from a broken nose, something which has forced him to consult the psychologist till now.
Broad, though played in the next Test match at the Oval with a face mask. Broad spoke about the threat which a raw pace bowler causes to the batsman, especially after the batsman gets a blow or two during the game.
Broad though said that he is working with the sports psychologist to concentrate on the game and forget about these.
However, Broad has had a lean patch for few months now and several experts have questioned his place in the side. He no longer looks a bowler, who can bat and this blow must have had an impact on him. Also, Broad has been far away from his best when it comes to bowling too, leaking runs and being going wicket-less.
England must win both of the remaining Group matches to have any chance of reaching the Quarters and Broad must contribute to the cause. He is a senior member of the team now, and his performances are not setting up a good example for the other mates.
