Bangladesh Has The Chance Of Winning Tests More Than Ever – Mominul Haque 1

After defeating Sri Lanka in their overall hundredth Test, Bangladesh as a side is looking forward to leaving a solid impact in the longer format of the game, as middle-order batsman Mominul Haque believes the side has a greater chance of winning after showing the quality improvement in the gentleman’s game.

In the recent past, under the dynamic leadership of Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh has registered wins against England and Sri Lanka respectively which has boosted the morale of the team to compete against the top-notch sides in the recent times.

“We fought hard against New Zealand and India. We got win against England and Sri Lanka. So I think we have come over from our previous status,” Mominul was quoted as saying by bdcrictime.

Showing the signs of improvement, further, believes his national side could come good against Australia which is scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August-September (subjected to further clearance) for two-match Test series.

“Now, we have the chance of winning Tests more than ever, and also more than the other formats. This Test side is more matured. Everyone knows his game,” Mominul maintained.

The 25-year-old left-handed batsman Mominul feels Bangladesh could beat Australia 2-0 in the series while adding they have to give their best in a bid to see results in their favour.

The Cox’s Bazar-born Mominul believes the historic victory over Sri Lankan has changed the mentality of players which further instilled confidence in them to play according to their best of the ability.

“Mentality of the Test cricketers have changed a lot following the victory over Sri Lanka in Colombo,” Mominul added.

Moreover, the progress in the Test format could be gauged as Bangladesh has extended the Test match against India and New Zealand respectively for the final day while giving their hundred percent on the field even lacking in quality.

“Everyone sat together for a team meeting after the match, and from then on, everyone has got a totally changed mentality,” Mominul further added.

Mominul, who missed the 100th Test owing to a poor string of scores on his back, revealed he is giving his best in the practice to deliver according to the expectations while adding to find the rhythm to collect the bulk of runs for his team.

“I couldn’t prolong my innings in last two matches. Maybe this is the first time I have been going through a bad phase in Test cricket,” Mominul stated.

Mominul while reflecting on the Galle Test, revealed the loss has brought all the players on the same page which according to him helped the team as a unit to deliver even under pressure.

“Actually the defeat in Galle worked as a tonic for the players. It also taught everyone how to contribute to the team’s cause,” Mominul admitted.

Mominul has featured in 22 Tests for Bangladesh in which he has amassed 1,688 runs at an average of 46.88. He has smashed four centuries and 11 fifties.
