India skipper Virat Kohli’s ever-increasing list of admirers has another addition to it and the latest person is no other than Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan. The daughter in law of the legendary former India skipper Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the actress revealed her liking for the India batsman during a recent interview.
The last few years have seen Virat Kohli becoming the torch-bearer of Indian cricket. After the retirement of stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and others, the 28-year old batsman has taken the onus upon himself to take the Indian cricket forward and it is safe to say that he has exceeded all the expectations so far.
He was handed the Test captaincy in 2015 after the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from the longest format of the game and since then Kohli has not only led the team brilliantly but has also upped his game as a Test batsman.
The year 2016 saw him converting himself from being India’s best batsman to the best in the world. He began the year without a single double century in Tests and finished it with three double tons to his name. He later added another to the list by scoring another double century against Bangladesh earlier this year.
His meteoric rise has made him the darling of cricket fans around the country and Kareena Kapoor Khan is also one of his millions of fans.
During a recent interview, the Bollywood actress said that Kohli is her favourite cricketer and she enjoys watching him bat.
“I love the way Virat plays. He is my favourite,” Kareena Kapoor Khan said.
When asked about her views on whether Virat Kohli will be the next Sachin Tendulkar, she said that Virat Kohli is already the next Sachin Tendulkar.
“Isn’t he already the next Sachin Tendulkar. After all, he’s the reason why we are winning so many matches in succession,” she said.
