Pro Kabaddi League 2017 Season Five: Full Schedule, Time Table and Venue Details

After four magnificent seasons on the trot, Pro Kabaddi League is back with its season five, which will commence on July 28th and run up to October 28th. The marquee Kabaddi League in the country had eight teams until last season but now with expansion in mind, the creators stretched the number to 12. With this, there would more games played, as now the tally has risen to 130 in total.

The auctions which were held in the capital city of India, New Delhi saw nearly 400 players in the pool to be picked. With the inclusion of four new teams – Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu — the contest would now be anything but intense.

Now in the auction, the franchises spent over 46 crores to bag the services of 227 players in all. The costliest pick of this season, or rather in the history of the league is Nitin Tomar, who was roped in by the newly inducted franchise, Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, Suraj Desai was the bought by Dabang Delhi for a whopping price of 52.5 lakh, which makes the highest bid for a category B player in the league’s history. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Jang Kun Lee is the most expensive overseas player after Bengal Warriors retained him for Rs 80.3 lakh.

Talking about the previous four seasons, Jaipur Pink Panthers were the first team to lift the trophy. U-Mumba followed them in the next season, whereas, Patna Pirates were successful in clinching the titles for two successive years.
