On Friday Experienced Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene stated they would not be too worried about the Australian pacer spearheads when they face each other on Sunday in an International Cricket Council World Cup Pool ‘A’ encounter.
Mahela Jayawardene was quoted by saying by espncricinfo: “You can be quick, but if you are not accurate you can go for runs as fast as they bowl.” He said that the Australian bowlers are very quick and they have dealt with a lot of quicks in the International Cricket World Cup so far. So they are excited a wee bit about this challenge. Mitchell Johnson has been great till now and Mitchell Starc bowling quiet well.
Former Asian islander skipper Mahela Jayawardene trusts they have been in great shape of late with the bat and there are no reasons why they cannot score runs against the Australian cricket team at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The 37 years old Sri Lankan batsman said that the crucial thing is that in the last 12-18 months their top batting order has scored lot of runs. If the top ten cricketers are considered in the world over the last two years they have three or four players dominating.
According to him, if the middle order is considered, Angelo Mathews has had a marvelous 2014 as well, so they are confident.
While commenting on Sri Lankan pace superstar Lasith Malinga, he stated that Lasith has improved from the 1st match to 2nd to 3rd, his versatility are coming and he has picked up pace, which is sad news for the opponents.
