The background:
India women team’s opener Smriti Mandhana has grabbed every eyeball after her starring role in India’s consecutive wins in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 in England.
The 20-year left-hander from Maharashtra got off to a dream start in her maiden World Cup, playing a stunning knock of 90 runs off just 72 balls against hosts England in India’s tournament opener. And she bettered her performance in the very next game, scoring a blistering century to guide India to a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over World T20 champions West Indies.
Chasing a modest 183, India were in trouble after being reduced to 33 for two. However, Mandhana along with skipper Mithali Raj bailed India out of trouble by adding 108 runs for the third wicket. And although Mithali missed her eighth consecutive half-century by just four runs, Mandhana made amends for missing out on a hundred against England with a scintillating unbeaten 106, guiding India to a comfortable victory with more than seven overs remaining.

The story:
Her exceptional knocks have made the fans compare her with the stalwarts of India’s men players. While some have compared her with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar some have likened her with Yuvraj Singh. And continuing the trend, one cricket fan compared her with former India opener Virender Sehwag.
Tagging the swashbuckling opener in his tweet, the fan tweeted: “@mandhana_smriti is the Female version of @virendersehwag. You can be proud of her sir”

But Sehwag being Sehwag came up with the best reply one can think of. Calling Mandhana as her first version, Sehwag tweeted: “She is the first version of Smriti and is really special. Every Indian who loves sports will be proud of her. Wish her and the team the best.”

Sehwag’s brilliant reply was looked by thousands and one of them was former Australia woman cricketer Mel Jones.
“One of the quotes of the #WWC17, beautifully said @virendersehwag!,” she tweeted.
