There were few unpleasant sights at Anfield when Liverpool’s defensive rock Martin Skrtel was taken off on a stretched during their Quarter Final clash against Blackburn.
Skrtel collided with the Rovers striker Rudy Gestede in only the second minute of the game. At first the injury looked like a regular occusrance but when players started calling for the medical team, fans started to get anxious over Skrtel’s wellbeing.
Such is Skrtel’s image in the game that no one believed what they were witnessing. Nicknamed “Ironman” among Liverpool fans, Skrtel needed 8 minutes of immediate treatment on the pitch and then he was carried off on a stretcher.
Scenes were not pretty as there was an obvious silence around the ground as no one had seen Skrtel like this ever before in his Liverpool career. Skrtel did manage to lift the spirits around Anfield by putting his thumbs up while getting stretchered off.
There were very worried Liverpool fans around the world as twitter was flooded with prayers and support for Skrtel to comeback quickly from the injury.

Liverpool players, staff and fans would wait anxiously for the scan results as it will actually determine the length of Skrtel’s absence from the side.
