As per the latest reports coming from Manchester, It is believed that Manchester United superstar David De Gea has asked for an urgent meeting between club’s officials and his agent. This meeting would concern the release clause in his contract extension with the club.

It is not a secret that Real Madrid have been after De Gea’s signatures considering the poor form of Iker Casillas and De Gea is tipped to be Casillas’s successor both at Real Madrid and in the Spanish national side.

In the earlier meeting between De Gea and the club, a release clause close to £40 million was discussed but the main reason behind De Gea’s urgent meeting is to reduce the release clause in his contract to £35 million only.

De Gea is growing frustrated with the lack of substantial results and development at Old Trafford is looking for a way out thus he wants the release clause to be on the lower side so that Real Madrid do not think twice in signing the Spanish keeper. However, United are holding their grounds on a £45 million release clause which would enable them to get the best value for a keeper of De Gea’s worth.

Despite not being entirely happy, It is widely believed that De Gea will indeed sign his new contract with Manchester United but that would not guarantee his long-term stay at Old Trafford. Real Madrid will push hard to sign the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper and sources close to De Gea have no doubt that the player will end up at Bernabeau. It is more a question of when rather than if.

The news will come as a major blow to the hopes of Man United fans who have grown an unparalleled love and admiration for De Gea and see their future goal keeper for the decade to come. De Gea’s contract saga will take even clearer shape in the summer but for now the battle for release clause is being fought between De Gea and Manchester United.
