Pepe Reina made his debut for Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen and created a unique record. Former Liverpool stopper became the first ever Goalkeeper to play in Europe’s top 4 leagues.

Reina started his first league game in over a year since moving to Munich but the feat he achieved by doing so must have been a pleasing one. To make the occasion even special Reina kept a clean sheet and helped his side coast to a 4-0 win.

Reina started his career with Barcelona’s youth system and played for the Catalan side in early 2000’s. He played 30 games for Barcelona before moving to Villarreal where he made a name for himself. Reina represented Villarreal in over 100 matches.

Reina was at his peak when Liverpool made a move for him in 2005. Under Benitez, Reina became a hero at Anfield with fans always backing their favoured goalkeeper. After 285 appearances for the reds, Reina made his Serie A debut with Napoli when Benitez signed him on loan from Liverpool.

Earlier in the summer Reina moved to Bayern Munich to deputise for Manuel Neuer and after a long wait Reina made his Bundesliga debut and became the first goalkeeper ever to play in Europe’s top 4 leagues.

Pepe Reina is due to return to Liverpool to play in Steven Gerrard’s testimonial match. Reina will team up with the likes of Gerrard, Alonso, Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres to represent the all-star team of Steven Gerrard.
