The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is all set to commence from tomorrow with the first game scheduled to be played between defending champions Albert Tuti Patriots and the Dindugul Dragons at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The 2nd edition of the tournament will kick off with a six hitting contest in which few present and former international stars will take part.

Indian cricketers and former members of the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the IPL Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mohit Sharma, Subramaniam Badrinath, Pawan Negi, Anirudh Srikkanth and former Aussie opener Mathew Hayden will take part in the context. They will be facing a bowling machine in an attempt to clear the ropes.

Former Indian pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji, Indian Test opener Murali Vijay and Tamil Nadu all-rounder C Ganapathy will also be present during the event which is being powered by the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited. The six hitting contest is expected to begin from 6 pm and will end by 7 pm. The opening ceremony will be followed by the toss and the match is expected to start on 7: 15 pm.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings is all set to end their two-year hiatus and return to the Indian Premier League in 2018 and though it hasn’t been finalised yet, we might see MS Dhoni donning the yellow jersey yet again and striding on to the pitch for the toss. Ravi Ashwin who was a part of the CSK squad for all the 8 years said that the two-year hiatus will bring more crowds in the upcoming year.

Chennai has been one of the most successful franchises in the tournament before they were suspended for two years in 2015 after the involvement of their owners in the 2012 match fixing scandal. Along with them Rajasthan Royals too will end their hiatus and will return in the coming year.

MS Dhoni hasn’t been in the greatest nicks of late which has led to many questioning his value in the team. With Rishabh Pant giving him a tough competition, things might become difficult for Dhoni but he will be hopeful of raising to the occasion in the bilateral series against Sri Lanka and silence his critics like the way he has done for all these years.
