The Story

Delhi fast bowler Parvinder Awana faced a brutal assault on Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida. According to new reports, the 31 year old was thrashed by beaten up by five people. It was a case of mistaken identity as the goons felt he was a part of the rival gang.

The state police has registered a complaint and the investigation into the matter is being conducted.

The phyical altercation has resulted in serious injuries to the cricketer. He is currently nursing severe bruises on his face and witnesses suggest that he had a bleeding mouth at the time of his incident.

Not the first time

Awana can consider himslef very unlucky as this is not the first time he has found himself in such a situation. Three years ago, on March 7, 2014, Awana was punched repeatedly by a Noida policemen. An argument over parking went awry and the cricket had to face hefty blows from the policemen

The policeman was identified as head constable Bhagat Singh Yadav. He was supended after the it was proven that he repeatedly pucnhed Awana after the cricketer had parked his car on the side of the road to take a phone call near Noida’s Great India Place mall. Awana showed sympathy and didn’t file an FIR against him.

The 31-year-old, a right arm fast bowler, has played two T20 internationals for India. In domestic circuit, he represents Delhi and has played for 62 first class matches. He rose to fame with his performances in the IPL whenere he represented Kings IX Punjab.
