Karn Sharma Bids Adieu To Railways, Makes A Move To Vidarbha As Professional 1

All-rounder Karn Sharma has bid adieu to the Railways cricket team and has switched his base to Vidarbha for the upcoming season as a professional. With this, he ends his 10-year association with the Railways Board.

Karn made his first-class debut in 2007/08 season against Jammu and Kashmir and straightway struck a century on his debut. However, he came into prominence after his performance with the ball in Indian Premier League.

He made to the Indian team for the tour to England in 2014 and made his T20I debut in Birmingham. He then went onto play two ODIs in the home series against Sri Lanka and also played the first Test against Australia in Adelaide. His all the international performances came in the same year. Karn was there in India squad for one off test against Bangladesh in 2015 but the presence of Harbhajan Singh meant that he warmed the bench for the game.

Before coming to the national side, Karn made sounds in IPL auction 2014, as he emerged out as the highest paid uncapped player then. Sunrisers Hyderabad snared him for an amount of 3.75 Crores. In 2017 IPL auction as well, he grabbed the limelight when he emerged as highest paid Indian player. Mumbai Indians spent an amount of 3.2 Crores to buy him. Though he did not get a chance straight away, but once he was included, Karn shone for the team in every game. He played a vital role in Mumbai’s third title success when he bagged four wickets for just 16 runs in the second qualifier to route Kolkata Knight Riders on 107, which Mumbai chased down easily.

Karn’s addition to the team is a big boost for Vidarbha side, who was devoid of the services of professional last season when Wasim Jaffer sat out.

Karn had a race with Piyush Chawla for a spot in the side as a professional and the Vidarbha Cricket Association chose the spinner with less international experience.
