Indian wicket keeper batsman and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen sporting a brilliant one handed Gilchrist style catch at one sheer end to dismiss the Bangladeshi batsman Soumya Sarkar during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup of 2015 2nd quarter-final match between India and Bangladesh at the Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium (MCG).

The batsman Soumya Sarkar was batting well and was looking all set to make a big score on 29 runs when he edged off to one magnificent delivery bowled by Mohammed Shami towards the keeper Dhoni’s sheer left. There was no fielder in the slip position at place, and Dhoni had to dive across to take it one handed in which he became quite successful for the day.

Later on in the press conference, when asked to him about that one handed catch and the fielding, Dhoni said with a cheeky smile that all about the catch is that, flukes like this one happen many a times, so let us enjoy it, and hopefully it will be happening more often. Dhoni has been a stable wicket-keeper for India, but not the most spectacular one. His work with his gloves on to the spinners has often been flashy, but rarely has anyone seen him take blinders off the pacers.

Dhoni also did not restrain from complimenting his team mates for their fielding efforts. He said that they had a very good fielding side. They also had a game where they dropped quite a few catches, but apart from that, the fielding has been good, the reason being they have got good fielders, and that they have got fielders who are like average fielders, so we don’t really have anyone we have to hide in the side, which means on average they are a very good fielding side, Dhoni said.
