ICC Women's World Cup 2017 - Player Of The Series Tammy Beaumont Delighted After England Create History 1

Playing at the home of cricket in front of a packed Lord’s crowd, the England women created history as the side lifted its fourth World Cup. For the relatively young outfit led by Heather Knight, this stands out as a massive achievement given the pressure of playing the tournament as the hosts. Up against an in form Indian outfit, England held their nerves to just about winning the game by 9 runs.

With 410 runs throughout the tournament, opener Tammy Beaumont was a major reason behind the success of the team. Game after game, the young opener churned out impressive performances, and as it turns out, her knocks propelled the side to create history.

With knocks of 148 against South Africa and 93 against New Zealand, the opener ensured that she played her part in making this a memorable campaign for England. It came as no surprise when she was named the Player of the Series for her performances.

“After the first three games, I had to be reminded that I have been doing well over the last one year,” said Beaumont. “So many of the girls stood up and it has been a real team performance right through the tournament. Lauren got us off to a pretty good start but we didn’t quite do ourselves any favours with the middle order collapse.”

“The bowlers, Shrubsole and Brunt, then stepped up. In my head, defending the total was never in doubt. But credit to the way the Indians batted. We came to Lord’s in April, a lot of hard work went into our preparations and it is a great moment,” Beaumont added.
