Liverpool have been handed fresh hopes of finishing in the top 4 of the Premier League this season after a decision by Roy Hodgson to rest the high-profile Liverpool players.
The England manager named his team for his team’s European Championship qualifiers earlier today and hinted on resting the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson for those crucial games.
Liverpool players are an integral part of the English national side and Roy Hodgson believes that the likes of Sterling, Sturridge and Henderson have played too much games this season and they need a breather which would also help Hodgson to give others a look-in.
Harry Kane was the big name to be introduced to the senior national side and is seen as the replacement for Daniel Sturridge. Raheem Sterling came under senior criticisms earlier in the season when he claimed that he has been playing too much of football and was sent to Caribbean to get his fitness back.
Rest from a grilling International break means that Brendan Rodgers will have the liberty of picking a fresh team to go for the top 4 finish. Liverpool are in a RAT RACE to seal the top 4 finish against Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton.
Advantage for Liverpool will be that all of their rivals will have an English representative in the upcoming International fixtures that makes Liverpool the favourites to finish in the top 4 this season.
It is also believed that the other teams are not happy with Roy Hodgson’s decision to rest Liverpool players for England’s matches next week as the likes of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane will play for their national side. We will have to wait and see if this has any implication of the eventual league table standings.
