The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not appreciated the comments made by the Pakistani off-spinner Saeed Ajmal where he has informally promoted or rather advertised the names of Muhammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali to replace Misbah ul Haq as the likely captain of the One Day International squad.

Misbah ul Haq, who had already announced his retirement from the One Day Internationals after the loss against Australia in the World Cup, bowing out after a fighting 34 runs haul against Australia as Pakistan were shown the back door from the tournament with a 6-wicket defeat at the Adelaide Oval stadium in Australia.

Saeed Ajmal, while appearing at a local television channel as an expert, minced no words in verbally stating that he would appoint either Hafeez or Azhar as the next captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team.

Hafeez and Azhar are the best choices to take over as the ODI captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, said Ajmal in the channel programme.

He does not know what Younis Khan has in mind and exactly how much more he really does wants to play but he does not think he is a potential candidate because his place in ODIs is not guaranteed, said Ajmal.

Ajmal also suggested that perhaps it is right time for Younis Khan to also bid adieu to the One Day International format of cricket.

The off-spinner who couldn’t go to the World Cup because of a bowling action problem however conceded that his travel documents were being processed by the Pakistan Cricket Board for Australia for scenario of Pakistan qualifying for the semi-finals.

Ajmal also blasted the batsmen for their failure against Australia in the quarter-finals and in the World Cup.
