The highest wicket-taker in women’s cricket, Jhulan Goswami, was the star with the ball in the finals. At one stage, England team was looking good for a big total when Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sciver had shared 83-runs for the fourth wicket.

It was the time when Jhulan was introduced and the most senior bowler of the side gave a double bow to England by snaring two wickets on consecutive deliveries. Soon, she dismissed Sciver as well, which played a crucial role in India stopping the hosts on a low total of 228.

India was expected to chase down the total but an inexperienced side failed to give the final touch to the innings and hence, India lost a close encounter by a margin of just nine runs. It was a big achievement for Indian team though.

Meanwhile, the 15-member side and support staff have reached the country and upon their arrival, the members of the side were felicitated by the BCCI at a function in Delhi where each player was presented with a cheque of 50 Lakhs. The members of support staff were given a cheque of 25 Lakhs. Post the felicitation ceremony, the members of the team met Sports Minister Vijay Goyal.

Later in the evening, the whole team travelled to PMO office in Delhi and had a fruitful meeting with PM Narendra Modi, who later shared his photo with every player.

With Women’s World Cup done and dusted, it’s the time for the Indian team to prepare for the next World Cup in 2021 where the youngsters in the side will go as senior players.
