What Kagiso Rabada can do, Ben Stokes can perhaps do it better. The South Africa pace spearhead had England’s debutant Dawid Malan had on his knees with his deadly yorker in the first innings of the ongoing Test at The Oval and Stokes did something similar in the second inning with the only difference being Quinton de Kock managing to stay on his feet.

Chasing an improbable 492, South Africa were already in trouble after being reduced to 47 for two with Heino Kuhn and the ever-dependable Hashim Amla back in the pavilion. And Stokes, who had scored a stunning century in the first innings, put England firmly on top by taking two wickets on consecutive deliveries, the first of which was an absolute gem.

Bowling from round the wickets, the England all0rounder bowled an inswinging yorker, leaving de Kock helpless, as the Protea wicketkeeper-batsman could only see his stumps getting disturbed.

On the very next delivery, Stokes dealt a huge blow to South Africa’s hopes of saving or winning the match by dismissing their captain Faf du Plessis. But the visitors managed to see off the remaining overs without suffering any further setback with Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma sharing an unbeaten partnership of 65 runs to take South Africa to 117 for four.
