The current Indian coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Team India for their brilliant performance of late and has said the team have been together for two years and are capable of pulling off what no other Indian sides have ever done.

The current lot under the leadership of Virat Kohli has excelled in all three formats of the game in the recent past and have gone on to win most of the series they have played in the last couple of years. As per reports from ANI, Ravi Shastri said,

“This team has been together for 2 years & can do things that probably no other Indian team has done.”

India crushed Sri Lanka convincingly by 304 runs in the opening Test at Galle to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Virat Kohli was pleased with the performance of his boys who had everything covered in all departments of the game.

Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri also lauded Virat Kohli for his exceptional performance as a captain and praised him for improving with each passing day. He predicted that Kohli might turn out to be one of the very best captains in the coming years.

“Can see the difference from when he was captaining his 1st test to what he’s now.He can be up there with the very best,” Shastri was quoted as saying by ANI.

Shastri was the team director when Kohli led India for the very first time in the 2014 series in Australia. He almost single handedly led India to a dramatic victory in the opening Test at Adelaide while chasing a record target but faltered towards the dying stages to surrender the match to Aussies. He captained in Dhoni’s absence, as the latter was suspended for a solitary match.

The next Test between India and Sri Lanka will start in a day’s time and like the first test, the visitors will be starting as overwhelming favourites. The hosts have to play out of their skin if they harbour any hopes of even saving the 2nd Test. Unless anything dramatic happens, India might be in for a 3-0 whitewash for the hosts.
