Luis Suarez has ruled out joining any other team in the Premier League if he ever returns to England. Suarez and a host of other former Liverpool players were invited by Steven Gerrard to play a charity game at Anfield. Suarez was given a grand reception by the Anfield crowd as he returned for the first time since his £75million move to Barcelona last summer.

Liverpool fans got the chance to see the trio of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres in action for the first time, and after the game Suarez revealed he’d never join any other Premier League club.

He told Liverpool TV: “You never know in football what the future holds but if I ever play in England again I will play for the Liverpool team and not another team.

“I’ve missed the fans. They know they are in my heart.

“Everyone who’s played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. Now they know they are in my heart.

“It’s always nice, not just to come back to Anfield, but to come for a great game, for all the players, for the supporters, for the foundation and for Stevie – it was a special game.”

Luis Suarez scored 82 goals for the Merseyside outfit during his three and a half years in Liverpool. Suarez was also excited to be paired up with former Liverpool star Fernando Torres, and admitted it was a dream come true for him.

“It was great for me,” said the 28-year-old. “Four years ago when I arrived here for Liverpool, I crossed my fingers to play with Fernando and he left three days after I signed.

“Today was a great day for all the players, but for me and Fernando it was a great chance to play together.”

The Barcelona star missed the Uruguay international duty to be at Anfield, and earned Gerrard XI a spot-kick in the second half after he was fouled by former team-mate Jamie Carragher. Suarez admitted Gerrard offered him to take the penalty whom he labelled as the “greatest ever” after the game.

“Steven asked me [about taking the penalty] because he’s a great person,” said Suarez. “He knows it’s important when a player comes back after a few months to score a goal, but for me it is not important because the day is for him.”
