Manchester City are ready to flex their financial muscles and sign the highly rated Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, who has been widely linked with a move back to the Premier League with either Chelsea or Manchester United.

It has been reported by Spanish paper AS that City have met with the player in person during the International break. City’s representatives met with the player and his agent to finalise a £40 million move next summer.

De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg on a permanent deal last season itself. Since his move, De Bruyne’s stocks have risen drastically and now every major European team is linked with a move for the Belgian superstar.

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard came out and questioned Chelsea’s decision to sell De Bruyne last summer. Hazard said: “I respect Mourinho’s decision to sell De Bruyne but Chelsea would have been an even stronger side with Kevin in our side.”

In recent times, clubs like Bayern Munich and PSG have sent scouts to track the developments of the player and results are for everyone to see as De Bruyne has been the best young player in the Bundesliga this season. With 9 league goals and 11 assists, De Bruyne is only getting better.

Chelsea’s hopes of re-signing the player has taken a massive hit as City look set to complete the deal for the talented Belgian after it was reported that City met personally with De Bruyne during the International break.
