Sanju Samson has taken quite a few stunning catches in the Indian Premier League but the youngster’s stunner against South Africa A on Thursday (August 3) to dismiss Dwayne Pretorius probably tops them all.
Pretorius had walked into bat when the Proteas were reeling at 65 for 5. With the team in a precarious position, the right-handed batsman initially took his time and had scored 17 off 25 balls before his attempt to break the shackles cost him big time. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled one just outside the off-stump which turned a bit at the last moment. As a result, Pretorius, who was looking to hit it over the leg side, could not make a good connection and the ball after taking the edge of the bat ballooned on the off-side. However, the ball was still looking destined to fall in the no-man’s region but Sanju Samson had some other ideas as the Kerala star ran backwards and dived full length to complete a stunning catch.

India A beat South Africa in a thriller:
Led by captain Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 93, India A defeated South Africa A by 1 wicket to register its second win of the tri-series. Chasing 267, the Men in Blue kept on losing wickets at regular intervals but Samson’s 68-run knock, Pandey’s knock and Krunal Pandya’s quickfire 25 helped them to reach the target with two balls to spare.
