With less than a week for the opener of the IPL, there is already a problem for a foreign player to play in a state of Tamil Nadu.

The Delhi Daredevils who had a great auction look to kick off the IPL against the most consistent team in their own backyard and a fringe player in Angelo Mathews who contributes in all three departments is not allowed to play in the opener.

This is a result of the Tamil Nadu state government who have banned any sportsman from Sri Lanka from playing in the state over the last 2 years. Mathews who went for huge money in the auction has to miss the match. The ban is reported to be because of the tension caused due to treatment of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Kasi Vishwanathan the Tamil Nadu cricket Board president confirmed that no Sri Lankan player is allowed to play in the state said that the same has been informed to the officials of IPL.

However, Hemant Dua the CEO of DD confirmed that he has not received any indication that Mathews has to sit out from the IPL. He is believed to be a very important part of the plans of the Delhi outfit and it was highlited when Kirsten the coach of DD said that he would use one of the best all rounders in world cricket in a way that he can contribute the most to the team.
