Showing his humanitarian side once again, World Cup winning hero Gautam Gambhir, on Tuesday (August 8), posted an emotional message on Twitter.
Poverty and communal riots have been two of the most prominent features of an independent India and with the country gearing up for the 70th Independence Day, the opening batsman posted an enquiry through his Twitter account asking everyone as to why people are more interested in building temples and mosques instead of helping the needy.
Posting a picture of a poor girl with the caption,
‘We cannot do anything for you friend, we still have some temples and mosques to build, Gambhir tweeted:
“In d 70th year of independence I am still searching for a reply for my young friend. Any suggestions?”

Recently, the southpaw, who is currently out of the Indian team, was in news after starting a free community kitchen in West Delhi through the Gautam Gambhir foundation. The 35-year-old, who top-scored in the World T20 2007 and World Cup 2011 finals, has shown his patriotism on several occasions by coming out in support of the soldiers. Earlier this year, he had pledged to bear the full expenses of the children of 25 CRPF personnel killed in an ambush by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s south Sukma area.
