Kolkata Knight Riders had an easy victory in their goal to defend their title this season, against the Mumbai Indians team. Mumbai Indians batted first and soon lost 3 wickets, 2 of which were picked up by Morne Morkel. He was also awarded Man of the Match for his bowling performance. Rohit Sharma missed out on his IPL hundred by couple of runs and Gautam Gambhir played a brilliant knock to set up the chase for KKR. He was supported by Manish Pandey who scored quick runs and Suryakumar Yadav, who was in blistering form, to take the team through to its 10 consecutive victory.

3) Most runs and 50s without a 100 – Gautam Gambhir has hit 37 T20 ffities in his career and scored 4503 runs in the process. It is the most by any player who hasn’t scored a 100 in T20 cricket.
4) 10th consecutive win in IPL – Victory against Mumbai Indians was Kolkata Knight Riders’ 10th consecutive win in IPL. 9 of which came the last season.
5) Featuring in the opening match for the 6th time – In the 8 seasons of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders have played the opening match of the season for the 6th time. They have 5 of those and lost in 2011, played against Chennai Super Kings.
6) 5 sixes in a score of less than 50 – Second time in the history of IPL has a batsmen hit 5 sixes in his score of less than 50. First – Glen Maxwell 43 (22) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. Second Suryakumar Yadav 46* (20) vs Mumbai Indians in 2015.
