From the very beginning, Gautam Gambhir led KKR is being treated as one of the most strong teams for picking up title of IPL season 8. Although, they had lost their match against Royal Challangers Banglore yesterday but  Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir was one of the most popular cricketer on social media after he become the first batsman in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to have scored 25 half-centuries. The very moment he crossed the mark of his 50 runs (in his total of 58 runs in 46 balls),he created this history.

Gambhir, a left-handed opener, has achieved this feat during his 105th innings while playing for Knights  against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens .With the help of his knock , KKR were able to post 177 for six vs RCB, who ultimately won the match with an over to spare.

Obviously, twitter was flooded with posts by fans who not only appreciated his achievement but many of them also vouched for his comeback into the Indian national team. Gambhir, who has scored 2,921 runs from 106 matches, is now just 79 runs away from becoming third batsman to score 3,000 runs in IPL. Suresh Raina (3,343) of the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma (3,001) are the other two to have scored more than 3,000 runs in the IPL.
