Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has expressed his dissatisfaction at the club’s season and has warned his side against complacency going in to the final 6 weeks of the Premier League season.

Gazidis was speaking to the media ahead of the Arsenal’s league game against Burnley and was rather unkind on the feats achieved by the club this season. Arsenal have 22 of their last 27 games and are in line to retain their FA Cup success and the club could finish in top 2 of the league for the first time in 10 years.

Despite these positive results this season, Gazidis strives for more and has challenged the side to be a greater threat next season. Gazidis, however does acknowledge the progress Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have made this season and stressed on how the new players are beginning to gel sooner than expected.

Gazidis said“We are not happy but we are going to keep pushing to the end and see how far we can go,”

“We are happy with the way the squad has developed and we are very focused how we can make a positive end to the season. After that it will be a question of how can we progress the team further so that we can have an even better season next year.

“We have a squad that’s clearly coming together. It’s a relatively young squad so it will continue to improve.”

Gazidis pointed out the the effect World Cup had on the team. He highlighted how the team were suffering from the after effects of the injuries and fatigue the players brought from the tournament. Gazidis expects a stronger Arsenal side next season which will contest for titles.

Gazidis went on to discuss the financial fail play ruling imposed by UEFA and Gazidis believes that it will only make the league even more competitive.

Gazidis said: “I think the league is going to get more and more competitive,”

“I think it’s completely the opposite because what it means is, you are going to see more Southamptons, more challenger teams coming in because revenue has gone up.”
