The BCCI office bearers have told the Committee of Administrators (CoA) that the Justice RM Lodha panel’s recommendations cannot be honoured till 2023 during their recently held meeting in New Delhi.

The main reason behind this is the fear of losing a considerable sum if a 15-day gap is given between the Indian Premier League and the domestic calendar.

As per reports in the Times of India, the BCCI officials expressed their helplessness at not being able to offer any solution to the programme, as the Future Tour Programme is already chalked down with other international teams.

It was also learnt that CoA chairman Vinod Rai was pretty unhappy and asked the officials that why did BCCI didn’t take up the matter seriously at the recent BCCI SGM where the Lodha reforms were discussed.

“They all remained silent when Rai raised the issue with board officials. The minutes of the CoA-BCCI meeting will now be handed over to the Supreme Court. It may also figure in the status report which may not be good news for the BCCI,” a source was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Meanwhile, Team India is currently busy in Sri Lanka after annihilating the Islanders by a 3-0 margin in the Test series, they will look to continue their dominance even in the shorter formats when the two teams lock horns in the opening ODI starting from Sunday.

Sri Lanka will be a far more challenging side in the limited-overs format than they were in the Test arena and it was evident from their performance against the Men in Blue during the Champions Trophy group league stage.

Despite being a more than a decent ODI team, the Lankans lost to Zimbabwe 3-2 in their previous series and were criticised by all and sundry. They weren’t competitive enough even against an opponent who hadn’t won a series against top notch teams for ages. India will undoubtedly be the clear favourites for the series but the hosts might spring a surprise in a match or two but a series win for the visiting Indian side should be the likely result.
