Indian cricket since the turn of the century has grown rapidly. Under the enigmatic leadership of Sourav Ganguly, the glorious Indian side emerged victorious in the most difficult of circumstances – In overseas test matches. A lot of credit for this success should be given to the mighty Indian batting lineup.

The Indian batting lineup was like a different team in itself. A team of unadulterated geniuses. The “Fab 4” were instrumental in demolishing reputed bowling lineups in their own backyard.

After Ganguly’s glorious era, came MS Dhoni dynamic era. Unfortunately, MS Dhoni’s side could not get the desired results and the Indians were beaten black and blue in overseas test matches. The much celebrated Indian batting used to collapse like a pack of cards. Among the tale of these two captains, in the Indian domestic circuit, several highly talented batsmen waited for their call ups, but sadly they could never get the opportunity.

There were several batsmen in the domestic arena who performed exceptionally well for their sides, yet could never get an Indian call up. It is completely ironic to assert that even today, when Indian test cricket is at an all time low, a lot of batting talent is simply being wasted in the Ranji trophy.
