Well, a few speculations were circulating around exploring possibilities of Sourav Ganguly taking over as the coach of Indian Cricket Team, especially after Dalmia’s appointment as the President of the BCCI. Now, former India captain Sourav Ganguly today has not totally denied the reports of him being in the running for the coach’s job of the national team. Dada has also opined that media should not “jump the gun” at the moment. Although there were a few reports that Dada has met Mr. Dalmia in this regard but speaking to Times Now TV channel in the evening, Ganguly denied that he had spoken to Dalmiya on this matter.

Although when questioned further he did not say he was not interested in the job. When Dada was specifically asked whether Rahul Dravid or he would be a better coach of the Indian team, he replied “both.”

“Both of can be. Rahul is a great player,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly further clarified that he meets Dalmiya every day since both are Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) office-bearers. It is worthwhile to mention that Dalmiya is the president and Ganguly is joint secretary.
The matter has also come to the lime light in wake of the fact that BCCI is hunting for Duncan Fletcher’s replacement. Fletcher’s contract ended after the World Cup 2015 last month.
