Brimming with confidence after the thumping 3-0 win against Sri Lanka in the Test series, India captain Virat Kohli will be raring to see the team continuing its winning momentum when it takes on the Islanders in the first of the five ODIs at Dambulla on Sunday (August 20).

Kohli was handed the limited-overs captaincy earlier this year when MS Dhoni stepped down from the post, and the 28-year-old made an instant impact, leading India to ODI, and T20I series win over England.

It was followed by Test series wins over Bangladesh and Australia before he set out with the team to defend the Champions Trophy in England and did well in his first tournament as captain.

The right-handed batsman led from the front, scoring 258 runs at an impressive average of 129, as the Men in Blue finished the tournament as runners-up. Afterwards, he led the team to a 3-1 win against West Indies and will be keen to see the juggernaut rolling on.

Kohli is yet to lose a Test and ODI series as a skipper and given the way the team is playing right now; one can only expect it to do even better in the coming days. Moreover, Kohli is leading the team from the very front and his exceptional form at the moment is expected to play an integral role in the ODI series.

He had scored 161 runs at an average of nearly 54 in the Test series and is looking in red-hot form at the moment, as he took the bowlers to cleaners in the nets ahead of the series-opener. The batting star looked in a murderous mood, as he warmed up for the game in style.
