While only time will tell whether the pitches in Bangladesh surprise Steve Smith or not, though the Australia skipper seems to be surprised by the way Bangladeshis commute in a train or ‘over the train.
In fact, Smith was so amazed to see the people of Bangladesh travelling by sitting over the train roof that he could not stop himself from taking a video of the same from his hotel room.
The 28-year old posted the video on his Instagram account and wrote:
“What to do when all the carriages are full #watchyourhead #bangladesh.”
Meanwhile, Australia will look to win their first Test series in Asia since their 1-0 win in Sri Lanka in 2011. After some dismal results in the subcontinent including a 3-0 whitewash in Sri Lanka last year, the team from Down Under performed well in the Border-Gavaskar series earlier this year, winning the first Test before losing the series 2-1.
In its first and only visit to Bangladesh so far, Australia had whitewashed the hosts 2-0, and Smith would certainly be looking to end Australia’s long wait for a series win in the subcontinent.
“We’d certainly like to have done a lot better on the subcontinent that’s for sure,” Smith told the journalists in Bangladesh on Saturday (August 19). “Now (the Bangladesh tour) is an opportunity for us to try and change that.
“I thought in India we did some things really well for little bits of the game, we probably just needed to do them for a little bit longer and a little more consistently. This gives us another great opportunity to showcase our skills and show what we learned over there,” he added.
The two-match Test series will begin on August 27 in Dhaka before the teams move to Chittagong for the last Test.
