Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were caught in a harmless mix-up after both failed to clearly decided a run between themselves. A part reason for the confusion was also a fielding slip up near the straight mid-wicket region.

In the 4th over, off the first delivery from Lasith Malinga, there was confusion everywhere but the end result was safe. Malinga bowled a straight delivery at Rohit who punched past the bowler straight back in return.

He ball had no energy in it and went directly to the mid-on region.

Rohit first decided to get a single, Dhawan obliged. But, just after a couple of steps, he felt it was unsafe as a fielder had reached for the ball already. He took a quick pause, prompting the his partner to do the same and look back.

The fielder could not collect the ball and the misfield. Rohit and Dhawan, both waiting in the middle. Eventually decided to quickly go for the run and got it with ease

Unfortunately, four balls later, Sharma wasn’t that lucky and eventually was run out after his bat was stuck outside the crease at the non – striker’s end while taking a quick single. The ironic part was that his body was well ahead of the line when the direct throw met the stumps.
