During the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season eight between MI-RCB, a funny incident involving Kieron Pollard took place on-field at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. While chasing a humongous total of 210, Royal Challengers Bangalore started off slowly and Pollard got into verbal exchange with his fellow West Indian Chris Gayle, reminding him that the required run-rate was increasing with every dot ball.

On-field umpire Richard Illingworth then had words with Pollard after the incident which didn’t seem to please the all-rounder. Few overs later, he was spotted on the field with tape plastered over his mouth which drew loud cheers from the crowd at the stadium and a few sarky smiles from those on the Mumbai bench, including their coach Ricky Ponting.

The big-screen attendant at the ground even flashed a ‘Quiet Please’ message on the screen, much to the delight of the crowd.

Here is the video of it:

The umpire tells Kieron Pollard to not indulge in sledging or banter on the field. So next over Pollard comes out and does this. 😛

After losing four matches in a row, Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI) finally registered their first victory of the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as riding on the brilliant shows from Lendl Simmons, Unmukt Chand and from the captain himself, MI defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 18 runs. A much needed win for MI to stay in the competition!
