After the dismal recent weeks of misery, Liverpool fans have been braced with the good news of Jordan Henderson agreeing a contract extension worth £100,000-a-week. Liverpool fans were fearful over Henderson’s rumored exit after Chelsea and Manchester City were hovering around to sign the future Liverpool captain.

Henderson had 14 months remaining in his current contract and the talks were ongoing between him and the club to reach a substantial figure for him to sign the extension. Henderson has finally agreed to a news and improved £100,000-a-week contract which will see the club’s vice-captain extend his stay til 2020.

Liverpool and Brendon Rodgers have a massive job in their hands to establish Liverpool among the elites of the Premier League. A massive clear-out is expected this summer as Rodgers looks to chop as many as 10 players from his current squad and the Liverpool manager will be happy to have Jordan Henderson as his club-captain overseeing all changes at the club.

Henderson was brought to Liverpool from Sunderland by then manager Kenny Dalglish for £16 million. During his stay at the club, Henderson has become one of the most improved players at the club.

Henderson is tipped to take over the captaincy role from Steven Gerrard when the Liverpool legend marks his exit from the club at the end of this season.

Jordan Henderson has become the third superstar to pen down his contract extension at the club. Daniel Sturrdige and Phillipe Coutinho agreed to new contracts recently. The only player who is yet to discuss his contract extension is Raheem Sterling.
