The shortest format of cricket has been one of the most amazing formats as well. It’s short, it’s fast, it’s intriguing, and it’s entertaining. Taking the T20 format further is the IPL which has taken this game to a whole new level. Cricket and talent can be seen at its best in IPL.

This format of the game is so involving and competitive that you cannot afford to relax even for a single delivery. The game changes every over and the teams that has played well for more over’s is the one that comes out on top. But there are instances when both teams end up with equal scores at the end of twenty over’s. Which takes the game further to super over, which is even more exciting as all you got is 6 deliveries and 2 wickets to make it count.

The first ever Super-Over was played in-between KKR and RR, RR set a target of 151 but KKR could only manage 150 and tied the match. Later KKR scored 15 in Super Over, which Yusuf from RR scored in just 4 deliveries.

The second one came when KXIP scored 136 and CSK could score the same. In the Super-Over, CSK scored 9 in 5 balls, which KXIP achieved in just 4 deliveries.

IPL had to then wait for almost 3 years to witness the 3rd Super Over. It was between SRH and RCB. SRH had 131 to achieve, but could only manage 130. In the Super over SRH scored 20 runs and RCB managed only 15 in 6 balls.

A few days later RCB were again in a position to play a Super Over as they could only manage 152 while chasing 153. RCB scored 15 runs and DD could only manage 11.

In IPL 2014, there was a tie between KKR and RR. This was one of the best super overs as the scores tied in the Super over as well for both teams. Both teams managed 11 in 6 balls and in the end, RR won boundary count.

In the next season, RR and KXIP had involved in the Super over contest. Levelled at 191, this was the highest score in IPL that has been tied. But in the end, KXIP had better of RR and ended RR’s winning streak.

During IPL 2017, the Rajkot match between GL and MI entered into the Super Over. MI scored 153 runs (20 overs) in the reply of GL’s 153/9 (20 overs). In the Super Over, when MI managed to score 11/2 (five balls), GL was restricted to 6/0 (six balls).

IPL 2019 has already experienced two Super Over matches. The first incident happened on 30th March 2019 during the Delhi match between DC and KKR. After both the sides scored 185 runs, DC managed an incredible victory in the Super Over contest.

The latest IPL Super Over incident was on 2nd May 2019 during the Mumbai match between MI and SRH. In the main game, MI scored 162/5 (20 overs) and SRH managed to score 162/6 (20 overs). While SRH scored 8/2 (four balls) in the Super Over, MI secured a victory after scoring 9/0 (three balls).
