Mysuru Warriors which is a franchise in the Karnataka Premier League and also deals with agarbathi to aerospace conglomerate, NR Group conducted a cricket talent hunt in Mysore and Bangalore on July 29, 2017. Young, budding cricketers from all over the state came in large number and the response was simply overwhelming.
Around 205 aspiring cricketers came to take the trial and among them, 105 of them was closely observed by the bigwigs. Among 105 identified ones 50 were bowlers, 10 were a batsman and 40 were all-rounders with 5 of them being a wicket-keeper batsman. From Bengaluru, another 100 budding cricketers participated in the trial and at the end of the day, 43 players were shortlisted from both the venues for the final round on July 30 which was played at the Open Net in the PET Cricket Ground.
Before the penultimate round, 12 players were shortlisted who underwent training sessions with members of the Mysuru Warrior teams from August 14 before two players were eventually chosen to represent the franchise. The two selected players are Nanda Kishore from Jo Jo Cricket Club who is a right arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman and Kishan Bedare from the National Cricket Club who is a right-hand top order batsman and a right-arm medium pacer.
Speaking of the player who was selected Mr. Arjun Ranga Owner of Mysuru Warriors and Managing Director of Cycle Pure Agarbathis said:
“Our state is blessed with great sporting talent. However, due to lack of opportunities, they often go unrecognized. Through this camp, we intend to spot good cricketers from all Karnataka and provide them with a platform to grow and prove themselves. Our team will be a good mix of national talent as well as grass root talent from the region.”
Rx Murali, the Head coach of Mysuru Warriors said that the response to the selection process was heart-warming.
“The response to the selection process was heartwarming. The Mysuru Zone is a votary of great cricketing talent. It was extremely difficult for us to select players as each and every player was good. We wish both the selected as well as the others all the very best,” he said.
The selected players will be donning the colors of Mysuru Warriors for the upcoming edition of the Karbonn Smart KPL 2017.
