Leading German newspaper Bild are reporting that Manchester United have been joined by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Ilkay Gundagon.

United were thought to be leading the race for Gundogan but with Bayern’s involvement in the deal, it could get a lot hard for the red devils.

Bayern Munich have a rich history of signing Dortmund’s stars likes Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski. If Bild’s news is to be believed, Bayern have now declared their intention of signing the 24-year-old player from Signal Eduna Park.

Ironically, this news comes out on the very same day when Dortmund face Bayern Munich is DFB Pokal’s Semi-Final which will be Jurgan Klopp’s last game against Bayern Munich as Borussia Dortmund manager.

Gundogan has one year left on his contract and has no desires of signing a new contract with his current club and Manchester United are thought to be leading the race to sign the German midfield player but with Bayern Munich lurking for Gundogan’s signature, United are miles behind completing the deal.

German players are fascinated by the idea of playing for Bayern Munich and with the Bavarians declaring their interest in signing Gundogan, it must play on the player’s mind to re-think his decision about his new club this summer.
