As far as competition between the two sides is concerned, this series, in particular, hasn’t’ offered that one bit. As unfortunate as it may sound, but the fact remains that the gap between India and Sri Lanka has widened colossally and that is pretty much evident with the results being churned out in the ODI series.

The third game was no different as India once again stamped over Sri Lanka in an otherwise one sided game. For the hosts, it was once again a batting failure as they could only get to a below par 217-9. It was Jasprit Bumrah’s accuracy which dented the Sri Lankans, as the pacer ended up taking his first five wicket haul in ODI’s.

For stand in captain Chamara Kapugedara, he didn’t have too many words to describe the side’s current state of mind. With the series gone, all the hosts can now hope for is to put on a fighting performance in the last two games of the series.

Defending the move to bat first in the game, Kapugedara said, “I thought it was a good wicket, so put some score on the board and hopefully we can defend, and like the last game we hoped it would grip a bit in the evening. Things didn’t go to our plans.”

Seeming optimistic for the next game, he said, “”I thought it was a good wicket, so put some score on the board and hopefully, we can defend, and like the last game, we hoped it would grip a bit in the evening. Things didn’t go to our plans.”
