Former Arsenal player Liam Brady says he would hate to see Arsenal players Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere leave Gunners to join Manchester City this summer.
Arsenal has the best English talent in entire Premier League as they bolster their team with so many English players. Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are two of their players who are finding it difficult to break in to the starting line-up.
Jack Wilshere’s season is hampered by injuries as he is in and out of team a few times this season whereas Theo Walcott is struggling to break into the team after his long term injury.
Liam Brady who is a former player for a decade and club’s Head of Youth development believes it would be a mistake to let Wilshere and Walcott leave.
He said, “I don’t know what is going through Arsene Wenger’s mind, I don’t know what is going through Jack Wilshere’s mind, but I think I know what is going through the people at Man City’s minds – they need English players and it is no surprise to see they might target Jack Wilshere.
“But I would hate to see him leave the club because I have known the kid since he was ten years of age and he is Arsenal through and through.”
“I think Jack is too brave for his own good. He goes into challenges where he isn’t favourite and he is dangling his leg out. He is too brave for his own good and has paid the price for that.
“But it is early days yet for Jack. You just have to think of how he played for England against Brazil at Wembley that day that England beat Brazil. He was absolutely fantastic. He ran the show in the middle of the park.
“And how he played against Barcelona when Arsenal beat Barcelona in the Champions League – let’s hope we can get Jack back to that level.”
“I think Theo could be a target for a club like Manchester City, like Jack Wilshere. I think the club should keep him. He’s a player that can change games with unbelievable pace. But he is going to find it difficult to get into the team and I wonder what is going through his mind.
“There’s a squad emphasis now at clubs and you have to take your time on the bench, but it must be difficult for Theo because when I was a player I only wanted to play.”
