With 3,835 runs in 52 Tests, including a century on his debut in the 2009 Ashes decider, Jonathan Trott one of the most successful Test batsman from England has announced retirement from all forms in international cricket, but will continue to play for Warwickshire in county cricket.

Trott, was part of the England team who in the Caribbean drew the series 1-1 with hosts, scored a mere 72 runs in 6 innings after coming back in to the national team after recovering from stress related illness. Trott said that the decision to retire was really hard to take and that his comeback to international cricket did not work out as he expected it to. He added that his game is no more as good as it should be to deserve a place in the national team.

The International Cricket Council player of the year in 2011, Trott said that he was thankful to every person who has helped him represent England in international cricket and also wished luck to all his teammates for the time ahead.

The England skipper Cook said that it was an honor to play alongside Trott and added that during his term Trott was an invaluable addition to the team and and helped England achieve many highs in cricket. Cook also added that having lost his place initially in the team, Trott did really well to find a place back in the team and that it shows the caliber and talent of the player. Cook also went on to say that Trott as a player will be dearly missed. Cook ended by wishing his team mate a very best of luck for his county career at Warwickshire.
