The International Cricketers Association has deemed Zimbabwe’s tour of Pakistan as an unacceptable risk, and has advised Zimbabwe Cricketing board not to go through with it.

In 2009, a visiting touring team was attacked with deadly gunfire. The team was the Sri Lankan team, and as many as 6 police officers lost their lives on that attack on the bus.

The chairman of the FICA recommended that the Zimbabwe tour not go ahead.

Tony Irish disclosed that this was the unanimous decision reached after consultation with security consultants, this was the unanimous decision reached by them, that there were too many factors which could influence the outcome of the tour, and thus the tour was unacceptable.

Zimbabwe has already dispatched a security team to look after the players and the team is set to reach Pakistan today.

The team would be required to attend a security briefing before the starting of the tour.

This is the first time since the 2009 incident that a full member of the International Cricket Council will be touring Pakistan.

However, Dev Whatmore, the new Zimbabwe head coach, has said that this move by the Zimbabwe team could go a long way in encouraging the other teams to begin touring Pakistan again.
