India’s hammer throw athelete who won the silver medal at the Asian games in 2014 has been downgraded to bronze after Chinese participant charged off doping offence was on Wednesday reinstated the gold medal of women’s hammer throw event.

Chinese hammer throw will be handed back the gold medal as she has successfully overturned doping ban after the court of Arbitration for sport upheld her appeal saying that her positive case resulted from contaminated food.   

Zhang had come with best throw of 77.33 m in the women’s hammer throw event at Asian games in Incheon on September 28 but was later disqualified and was stripped off the gold medal after a pre competition test showed traces of prohibited substance in her sample.

Another Chinese Wang Zheng who had the best throw of 74.16 who initially won the silver was awarded gold and Manju bala (60.47) who won bronze medal was upgraded to silver.

Manju who will content with bronze medal. This will mean that India’s medal tally at Asian games 2014 will read as 11 gold, 9 silver and 37 bronze.
