Chennai Super Kings was a one of a kind team. Since the first season of the Indian Premier League in 2008, the team managed to hold on to its core players as well as the backroom staff for the first nine years, and the result displayed on the field. The Chennai-based outfit became one of the most successful teams in the league.

The only team to have defended IPL title, so far, Chennai Super Kings, who have won the league twice- 2010 and 2011. They have also won the now-scrapped Champions League T20 twice.

And one of the most important players in the team was Suresh Raina. The left-handed batsman remained with the franchise for the first eight years before his association with the team came to an abrupt end after the Supreme Court imposed a two-year ban on the team due to corruption charges.

Before that, Raina had scored a staggering 3699 runs in the first eight seasons and played an important part in the team’s consistent performances. But with the two-time IPL champions all set to make a comeback next season, Raina has said he too would love to come back and play under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni again.

“I would love to come back to CSK and play under Dhoni again. Coming back to Chennai and meeting all the groundsmen, I am getting all the fond memories back,” he was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Raina also had a word of praise for Dhoni who has been in fine form in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. The former India captain had entered the series under severe pressure but has looked in ominous form with the bat, scoring 45*, 67* and 49*.

“Dhoni has been batting really well. He is looking very calm and working really hard. Around Virat Kohli, he can definitely share his experience. He has made a seamless transition,” he said.
