England have named a full strength squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies despite the hype around Ashes series that will start in November during Australian summer. However, the selection panel have decided to rest all-rounders Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and pace bowler Chris Woakes for the only T20I against West Indies on September 16 before the start of the ODI series. There are some notable absentees in the squad with both Steven Finn and Sam Billings could not find a place in the 14 member squad for the upcoming series despite them being part of Champions Trophy squad. On the other hand, the selectors have also decided to rest Mark Wood, whom they want to keep fit for the start of Ashes.

The series will be the start of their plans to 2019 World Cup, which will also be played in England. The English board are keen to ensure that they have the best preparations possible for the mega event after the team flunked against Pakistan in Champions Trophy earlier this year.

Tom Curran is the only uncapped player in ODI squad, and there are no new faces in the squad named for T20 game.  Eoin Morgan will take up the leadership once again as he remains a vital cog for English cricket in limited overs formats.

Usual suspects Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Joe  Root, Bairstow and Jason Roy, have all made to the squad for both the series. On the other hand, Chris Jordan, batsman Dawid Malan, and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson will only be playing in the T20I at Durham on Sept 16.
