Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is concerned about Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City as they are ready to spend big in this summer transfer window to revamp their squads to challenge for titles next season. Mourinho fears that their purchase power would inflate the prices of the players and make it difficult for Chelsea to land their targets.
Manchester United are all set to spend big this summer as they have begun their pursuit earlier this summer by securing Memphis Depay from PSV. They are also set to land Dortmund stars mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundgoan and would like to land a world-class goalkeeper if de Gea decides to leave for Real Madrid.
Manchester City, on the other hand, are ready to spend big on Paul Pogba as their key play maker Yaya Toure is set to leave the Citizens this summer. Pogba will provide the much needed strength to defence and offense at the middle of the park. City are ready to make Pogba world’s most paid midfielder after the taxes.
Chelsea are very strong this season as Mourinho insisted that they need minor changes to their squad. The Blues are targeting Atletico Madrid’s Greizmann and Real Madrid’s Varane but with Manchester United interested in both the players, Mourinho fears that their price would become higher than expected.
Mourinho said, “The market is difficult. I can imagine that, this summer, will be like Wall Street collapsing. I can imagine that some clubs are coming with such determination to the market that they will disrupt the market and take it to unexpected directions. “
“But we are in a good situation. We have this stability in our squad. We don’t need dramatic changes. We have to be loyal to our players. We believe in them. We have a good squad. What other clubs are going to do is not going to affect our direction.”
“If others buy 10 players each that will not push us to do things we’re not going to do. We are stable. Last season we had stability to analyse the needs to improve the team. This season we have stability to keep our squad, our team, but to give some extra motivation to the squad and a couple of extra options to improve.”
