Beautiful Women Cricketers

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has leaped to the defense of women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj after the latter was targetted by some on social media for her dressing.

Mithali, who had become the toast of the nation not very long ago due to her exploits in this year’s World Cup, took to Twitter on Wednesday (September 3) to post an old group photograph. But little did she know that it would become a nightmare for her.

Following is the tweet posted by her:

But the tweet did not go down well with a section of Twitterati which did not hesitate in condemning the Indian cricket star. From below the belt comments to criticism, Mithali faced an unwanted backlash for her dress.

However, more than the criticism, Mithali has received widespread support with not only the fans but also several sports personality coming out in her support. And the latest to join the bandwagon is Vinesh Phogat.

Vinesh not only threw her support behind her fellow female sportsperson but also asked why only women’s dressing is questioned.

“Why is it that only women are always questioned on what they wear. Why not men?? When will this change? #everydaysexism #MithaliRaj ??,” she tweeted.

Earlier, Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa had also condemned the criticism and had lamented that the culture is still “stuck in the same rut”.

This is not the first time that Mithali has faced the sexist comments. Last month, some targetted her after she posted a picture of herself where she had sweaty armpits.

But she had come out with a fitting reply then, tweeting: “I’m where I’m because I sweated it out on d [the] field! I see no reason 2 [to] b [be] ashamed f [of] it, when I’m on d [the] ground inaugerating [inaugurating] a cricket academy.”
