Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended the contract of Sunil Joshi as the spin bowling consultant.
Joshi was roped in by the board for the series against Australia. However, favourable results persuaded the board to extend Joshi’s contract by one year, until September 2018.

Joshi was an all-time favourite of the board for the role, as it was since February early this year when it was reported that BCB was in talks with the former left-arm spinner, but the board shifted the focus towards Stuart MacGill. However, the former Aussie leggie declined the role in the eleventh hour, and Joshi was appointed in the role.
An excellent performance from Bangladesh spinners has now resulted in an extension of the contract. His next assignment will be against South Africa, where Bangladesh will travel for two Tests, three ODIs, and two T20I series.
The biggest challenge for Joshi would be to help the spinners continue their form in the opposing conditions in South Africa, where the pace is the main key to success, unlike spin. Following the series, Bangladesh will face a stiff challenge against Sri Lanka, Windies and Australia, where the team has to do well in order to continue their form in the longest format of the game.

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s prime player is considering a break from Test cricket for six months. In other news, Mosaddek Hossain is likely to miss Bangladesh tour of South Africa, as he is still suffering from an eye infection,
“We are sending him there as per the advice of our local eye specialists. This is not a dangerous infection, but it will take time for him to fully recover,” BCB physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
The Bangladesh tour of South Africa starts on September 28 with the first Test match to be played from September 28 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
