The Jammu and Kashmir state Cricket Association is facing allegations of a scam worth crores of rupees and the J&K High Court has given the president of the board, Farooq Abdullah two weeks time to respond to these allegations.

Abdullah’s counsel Jehangir Iqbal Ganaie was given the time by a bench comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice D S Thakur. The council has already issued a notice to the president of the board after a PIL was filed by former state Ranji team player Majid Yaqoob Dar and club cricketer Nisar Ahmad Khan.

The petitioners alleged that crores of rupees have been illegally used up by the board and that this money was not used for the purpose of developing the board and that the money was used for personal gains.

The police have already submitted their report to the court and the next hearing is said to take place in the first week of June. Cops already registered a case in March of 2012 for misappropriation of funds on two former JKCA officials which was received by the body from the BCCI.

KCA chairman Mohammad Aslam Goni who lodged the complaint, got a case registered on the then treasurer Ehsan Mirza and then General Secretary Mohammad Saleem Khan.

Speaking on the matter, Abdullah said that his involvement in the case was unfortunate and that he will come out innocent.
