Paul Scholes expects Tom Cleverley to join Everton in the summer. Scholes thinks that, Cleverley should make his Manchester United exit next season to bring his career back on track.
Tom Cleverley was tipped to be the replacement for Paul Scholes at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield but a steady decline in form has seen the United midfielder join Aston Villa on loan.
During his loan spell, Cleverley has put in some fine performances under the aggressive management of Tim Sherwood.
Following his loan spell, Cleverley will become a free-agent next season and Scholes expects the midfielder to join his former boss Roberto Martinez at Mersyside.
Martinez was the manager who brought out the best from Cleverley during his loan spell with Wigan Athletic.
Speaking on Cleverley’s future, Scholes said: ”I have a feeling that he might go to Everton. I think Martinez likes him. I think he will suit their style of play.
“He is a very good footballer, he likes to get forward, he likes to score goals, he is very good in possession.
“Everton have a rich history of signing former Manchester United players.”
If Cleverley makes his switch to the Goodison Park, he will join the likes of Tim Howard and Darron Gibson to have switched sides. Whereas, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini have famously joined the old Trafford side from Everton in the past.
